Representative Emanuel “Chris” Welch elected as Illinois Speaker of the House

ICOY congratulates Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch on his historic election to Speaker of the House.

We have worked closely with Speaker. Welch, and he has been open to our perspectives on important issues involving children, youth and families.

We are especially pleased that for the first time we will have a Black Speaker, bringing much-needed diversity into the leadership of state government.

We look forward to working with Speaker Welch on issues important to ICOY members and everyone in the state.
